When you think about the holiday season, most likely images of beautifully decorated christmas trees, extravagant dinners or a jolly man in a bright red suit will come to mind. Staying active during the holidays is not something that gets prioritized often, but it should be! Our bodies need movement in order to stay feeling our best! To help you out, we have put together our Top 5 list of fun activities to keep you moving during this festive time of year!

1) Ice Skating

Skating is a no brainer in Winnipeg! We have many beautiful outdoor rinks to choose from! Whether you brave the cold at one of the many outdoor spots at The Forks or you head to one of the city's indoor skating arenas, you are sure to have an amazing time with family or friends!

2) Tobogganing

It's easy enough to head to one of the many hills or toboggan slides in the city, but consider taking a drive out to Fort Whyte Alive to really amp up the fun as you blast down the Richardson Rrrrun onto the frozen lake! For the thrillseekers, check out the tube park at Springhill Winter Park

3) Snow Maze

Check out The Guinness Book of World Record's Largest Snow Maze at A Maze in Corn! Have fun navigating your way through the wintery wonderland they have created! Stop and admire the snow sculptures and warm up by the bonfire with a cup of hot chocolate!

4) Museums

If indoor fun is more your style, stay active by taking a stroll through one of Winnipeg's museums! The Manitoba Museum is a great place to learn about our province's rich history, or take in the art scene at the WAG! You can't miss the legendary Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Whatever you choose, you're sure to have a great day keeping your brain firing and feet moving!

5) Assiniboine Park

Whether you're an animal or nature lover, there is something for you to explore at Assiniboine Park! Watch the polar bears swim at Journey to Churchill at Assiniboine Park Zoo or head to the newly opened Leaf to soak in the warmth and beauty of 4 amazing biomes!

Whatever you decide, our team at River East Physiotherapy hopes you enjoy spending time with your friends and family this holiday season and wish you a wonderful New Year!
