We are thrilled to announce that River East Physiotherapy will be offering group exercise classes for people living with Parkinson's Disease.

River East Physiotherapy is partnering with U-Turn Parkinson's, a Parkinson's Wellness Centre in Winnipeg, and Concordia Village to deliver these classes in North Kildonan.  Classes will start on March 5, 2020.

“The fundamental part of our new partnership is to support people living with Parkinson’s Disease,” says Andrea Grant, director of River East Physiotherapy. “Providing ongoing physiotherapy care is part of the next evolution of U-Turn Parkinson’s as a medically-based wellness centre."

Currently, River East Physiotherapy provides one-on-one physiotherapy assessments and one-on-one physiotherapy treatments.  By adding group fitness classes to our services, we create even more options for our clients to fight back against Parkinson's.

U-Turn Parkinson's is an independent Canadian charity that offers a variety of resources to the Parkinson's community of Manitoba in the form of Rock Steady Boxing Winnipeg, U-Tunes Singing Group, Yoga for Parkinson's and U-Turn Parkinson’s Balance & Strength. Starting March 2020, Physiotherapists will be leading a weekly Rock Steady Boxing Class at U-Turn PD North Side, with plans to expand to more classes as necessary.

”We are thrilled to offer a second, more convenient location at Concordia Village for people living with PD in the North Kildonan, Transcona, North end and North Perimeter sections of the city.” says U-Turn Parkinson’s Founder and Executive Director Tim Hague. “We are also pleased to be working closely with River East Physiotherapy to offer the best in assessment and implementation of PD specific exercise for all of our classes moving forward.”

The goal at U-Turn Parkinson’s is to provide fun and challenging opportunities for those living with Parkinson's Disease to live their best by focusing on exercise, movement, speech and community. “We focus on wellness NOW,” says Hague. “Opening a second location to be able to serve more people living with PD is how we continue to do so.”
