Assessment and Consultation

At your first session, the physiotherapist will ask about your medical history, the story of your condition, and your goals for physiotherapy.  S/he will also conduct a physical examination.  The physiotherapist will then propose treatment options, and work with you to develop a treatment plan.  Your treatment plan will often include a customized home exercise program.

Low Intensity Laser Therapy

Low level laser therapy facilitates soft tissue healing and can reduce pain.  Laser can be used directly on an injury, or in conjunction with the acupuncture meridian system.

Physiotherapists at our clinics use the Bioflex Laser system - read more at

River East Physiotherapists are certified with Acupuncture Canada.

Dry Needle Therapy

A technique used in the release of trigger points in patients with chronic myofascial pain.

Massage Therapy

Our Registered Massage Therapists provide deep tissue, relaxation and lymphatic massage treatments (30 and 60 minute sessions).

Regional therapeutic massage (i.e. massage to one region of the body) is available with our physiotherapists (30 minute sessions).

Orthotic Assessment and Casting

Custom shoe inserts can help alleviate foot, knee, hip and back pain. If orthotics are appropriate for your symptoms, your physiotherapist will evaluate how you walk and assess your feet.

We work with Paris Orthotics in Vancouver B.C. to produce all our orthotics. Visit their website:

We direct bill Manitoba Public Insurance on your behalf.

Worker's Compensation (WCB) Programs

We work with WCB to help you recover from work related injuries.

We keep your doctor updated on your progress, and we work with your case managers.  We can bill WCB directly.

Functional Reconditioning Programs

Without support, it can be difficult or dangerous to return to work after illness or injury.  We offer customized "functional reconditioning programs" to help patients return safely to their work tasks.

These enhanced 4-, 6- or 8-week programs require authorization from health management companies.

See our Return to Work Programs for more information.

Functional Ability Evaluations

A functional abilities evaluation is a detailed, 1- or 2-day evaluation of what you can do - your "functional abilities".  It is valuable both to patients and case managers who need to know how close your current functional abilities are to your job requirements.

10-Day Chronic Pain Management Program

This two week program aims to help patients manage their pain instead of their pain managing them.  Customized exercise, relaxation techniques, biomechanical awareness are some of the features of this program.

Biomechanical Running Assessments

Our physiotherapists are trained to analyze and correct running style to reduce injuries, and enhance your running performance.

Vestibular Therapy

Vestibular therapy refers to a form of physiotherapy that treat disorders of the vestibular system, which is located in the inner ear. Symptoms such as vertigo (sensation of the room spinning), dizziness, vision problems and balance problems are all common with vestibular disorders. Common conditions we treat include Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), neuritis, labyrinthitis, and age-related vestibular changes.

Individual Exercise Programs

Every patient is unique.

Your exercise program will be designed just for you. As you heal your program progresses accordingly. Your physiotherapist will instruct you on every exercise and make sure your are preforming correctly. Some exercises will be dropped as more challenging ones are added.  We provide an easy-to-follow list of your exercises, and your role is to continue your exercises between appointments.

Free 15 Minute Phone Consultation!

Still unsure if physiotherapy can help you?

We offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation with one of our physiotherapists to determine if physiotherapy is right for you. And during the COVID-19 disruption, our physiotherapists can also explore whether a virtual physiotherapy session would be right for you.
